Maastricht University Holland High Potential Scholarships 2023
The Holland-High Potential Scholarship program at the University of Maastricht (UM) offers 24 full scholarships of € 29,000 (including tuition waiver and monthly stipend) each academic year for highly talented students from outside the European Union (EU) They have been admitted to a master’s program at UM.
The Netherlands High Potential Scholarship consists of a High Potential Scholarship combined with a Netherlands Scholarship.

Scholarship value and inclusions
The scholarship covers living expenses (€ 12,350 – 13 months; € 23,750 – 25 months), medical and liability insurance (€ 700), visa application expenses (€ 192), tuition (€ 13,800, € 16,000 or 16,800 €, depending on the tuition of your study program) and the costs of pre-academic training.
The High Potential Scholarship is awarded for the duration of the Master’s program: 13 months for a one-year Master’s program and 25 months for a two-year Master’s program.
Eligibility Criteria
- You have the nationality of a country outside the EU / EEA and meet the requirements to obtain an entry visa and a residence permit for the Netherlands.
- You do not have dual citizenship of an EU / EEA country.
- You have applied for admission to a full-time master’s program at Maastricht University for the academic year 2023-2023 (available on the official website in October 2021)
- You meet the specific admission requirements of the UM master’s program to which you have applied.
- You have never participated in a higher education program to obtain a degree, a primary education program or a secondary education program in the Netherlands. Students who completed exchange programs in the Netherlands can apply.
- You are not over 35 years old on September 1, 2023.
- You have achieved excellent results during your previous education programs, as evidenced by your latest transcript or certificate of academic excellence. If multiple applicants are equally qualified, we will give preference to applicants whose transcript or certified letter of academic excellence demonstrates that they are in the top 5% of applicants for the 2023/23 scholarship program.
Application instructions
To apply for the scholarship, you must first register for one of the participating Master’s (MA) programs at Maastricht University. Once you have submitted your application through Studielink, you will receive a Student ID number which you will need to complete and submit the Scholarship Application Form. You must then complete the application form, upload the required documents, and submit your application online. The application deadline is February 1, 2023.
